Friday Creature Feature: Speed Demon

Okay, so technically it's Saturday. Sue me. Here's another spirit you can use for those concentration failures.

SPEED DEMON
Medium Outsider (Spirit)
Hit Dice: 6d8
Speed: Fly 120
Armor Class: 19 (+5 Dex, +4 Natural)
Attack Bonus: +11 melee
Damage: 1d4 claw
Special Qualities: Spirit (Telekinesis, Malevolence), 4 attacks
Saves: Fort +4 Ref +10 Will +5
Abilities: Str 11, Dex 20, Con -, Int 10, Wis 11, Chr 10
Environment: any

Speed demons are sometimes conjured accidentally (per the Concentration rules on page 51) when spells like Mogdar's Temporal Compression are botched. They resemble blurry humanoid figures with an indeterminate number of spidery limbs. Hosts possessed by a speed demon are worn down by the spirit's energy, suffering 1d4 points of Constitution damage every hour. The spirit can continue to animate a dead host but, at -10 Constitution, the body crumbles to dust and is useless.

Whirlwind: The speed demon can transform itself into a whirlwind once every 10 minutes and remain in that form for up to 1 round for every 2 HD it has. In this form, the spirit can move through the air or along a surface at its fly speed. Creatures in the same space as this whirlwind must make a Reflex save (DC = Speed Demon's HD +10) or be trapped. Creatures trapped in the whirlwind cannot move except to go where the spirit carries them or to escape the whirlwind. Otherwise, the whirlwind functions much like a spell (see the Spells section for details) cast by a wizard of the same level as the speed demon has hit dice. A speed demon in whirlwind form cannot make slam attacks.

Spell-Like Abilities: (1/day) Mirror Image, Mogdar's Temporal Compression (Haste), Slow, Blink
